The debate and confusion over
Puretracks' new MP3 music library and whether it's free
of anti-copying locks that prevent people from putting
their tunes on any device - computer, iPod or even
cellphone, for example - has shone a spotlight on the

The situation would be
especially damaging to Apple. Most of what the
Cupertino-based firm has developed in the past several
